The American Hockey League (AHL) officially cancelled its 2019/20 season today.
The AHL Board of Governors has voted to cancel the remainder of the 2019-20 AHL regular season and the 2020 Calder Cup Playoffs due to the ongoing COVID-19 public health crisis.

However, it does put a crimp in the NHL’s plans to restart its season. AHL players are needed by their parent NHL teams to replace injured players and perhaps even Covid-19 infected players in the event the NHL season is resumed this summer and/or fall.
