The Vancouver Canucks are hoping Zack Macewen can provide some much-needed secondary offence, as the team announced Sunday that they’ve recalled the 22-year-old forward from the Utica Comets.
Macewen will replace forward Sven Baertschi, who is sidelined as he continues to deal with post-concussion syndrome. Macewen has 17 goals and 42 points in 49 games for the Comets this season.
Vancouver signed the 6-foot-4, 212-pound right winger to a three-year deal in March of 2017. Macewen had scored 31 goals and 74 points for the Gatineau Olympiques of the QMJHL in 2016-17.
