The Vancouver Canucks had a rather unique approach in free agency, opting to sign veteran forwards Jay Beagle, Tim Schaller and Antoine Roussel to multi-year deals, even though none of them bring much to the table offensively.
Schaller — signed two a two-year deal worth $3.8 million — will be responsible for making the Canucks tougher to play against, as well as defending youngsters such as Brock Boeser and Elias Pettersson.
While Beagle and Rousell (each signed four-year deals worth $12 million), were given too much money and term, Schaller is a nice cheap signing.
