Vancouver Canucks general manager Jim Benning has not had the best track record with free agency signings, and with the three additions of Jay Beagle, Antione Roussel, and Tim Schaller in the past off season, some fans were concerned with the direction of the team.
Last season, Roussel posted 17 points over 73 games, with 126 penalty minutes. With his signing of four years at a cap hit of $4 million, some were left worried with the amount of salary and term given to a player that lacked offence. Roussel was signed for the purpose of adding grit to the team.
