Vancouver Canucks general manager Jim Benning wasted no time trying to upgrade his defence this offseason, signing Tyler Myers, Jordie Benn and Oscar Fantenberg on the first day of free agency.
Benning knew he had to change the dynamic of a blue line that was among the NHL’s worst over the past five years. He now has a top-four guy in Myers, a reliable stay-at-home blueliner in Benn and another depth guy in Fantenberg.
Despite the changes on defence, things have remained quiet on the Chris Tanev trade front.
