The Vancouver Canucks weren’t able to find any takers for the final three years of Loui Eriksson‘s contract, so they chose a simple solution.
Make him a frequent healthy scratch.
Head coach Travis Green hasn’t been playing any games with the $36 million man. The 34-year-old Eriksson has only played one game this season, and that was the Oct. 2 season opener against the Edmonton Oilers.
But if you ignore Eriksson’s high salary, you can see his value as a reliable defensive forward and penalty killer. And even if he isn’t closing to playing up to his contract, Eriksson’s numbers as a Canuck are at least decent enough for a bottom six forward.
