A fifth-round draft pick by the Vancouver Canucks in 2001, Kevin Bieksa defied all odds and emerged as a reliable top-four defencemen — playing an integral piece in helping this team win five straight Northwest Divisions from 2009-2013.
But the Canucks needed to clear cap space and retool their blue line, so Bieksa was shipped to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for a second-round draft choice in the 2015 offseason. Bieksa totaled 211 games over three years with Anaheim, averaging 19:18 time on ice over those three seasons.
Bieksa is ow 37 years of age, injury-prone and nearing the end of his career.
