We all kind of knew this was coming, but there was a shred of doubt that recent Stanley Cup Champion Jordan Binnington might beat out Vancouver Canucks‘ star rookie Elias Pettersson for the Calder Memorial Trophy, awarded to the league’s top rookie. Take a deep breath Canucks fans, because it happened.
Sitting with his parents and brother Emil, Pettersson took to the stage to accept the award. He thanked the Canucks management, ownership for believing in him, and his teammates for making him feel like part of the team right away. The coolest part for me was to hear him thank the people who voted for.
