There have been a lot of injuries, too many players in long-term slumps and a goal differential of minus-12, and yet the Vancouver Canucks are holding onto the final wild card spot in the Western Conference.
The Canucks have lost defenceman Alexander Edler for at least a week, as the 32-year-old recovers from a concussion he suffered on Monday. Forward Sven Baertschi is also seeing doctors, while goalie Thatcher Demko deals with a knee injury. Obviously, it’s the worst possible time for the Canucks to see a handful of key players go down.
