The Vancouver Canucks drafting as of late has been good. We know about all the budding young stars and core that the team has assembled through the draft, but with all of those hits, come some misses. Two of those misses are 2017 picks Matt Brassard and Kristoffer Gunnarsson.
As per Sportsnet’s Rick Dhaliwal, Gunnarsson will become an unrestricted free agent, while Brassard, 20, will re-enter the draft this year. Both were drafted in the 2017 draft, the same draft that the Canucks selected Elias Pettersson in. Brassard was selected in round number seven at 188th overall, while Gunnarsson was selected in the fifth round at 135th overall.
