The Vancouver Canucks are in a tight playoff race, and general manager Jim Benning only has a few days left to decide if he wants to buy, sell or stand pat and hope for the best.
Benning’s most difficult decision will be what to do with top blueliner Alexander Edler. The 32-year-old is slated to hit free agency this summer, and he would fetch quite a return at the deadline.
But as Sportsnet’s Iain MacIntyre recently reported, Benning has emphasized that his goal is to work out an extension with Edler.
