On the 6th of June, the Utica Comets will face off against the Manchester Monarchs in the AHL’s Calder Cup final, thanks in no small part to Jacob Markstrom. In 18 play-off games the 6’6″ Swede has tallied a record of 11-7-0 with a Goals Against Average of 1.87. His stick save against in the final game against the Grand Rapids Griffins was one of highlight reel quality.
Despite his continued impressive performances in the AHL, Markstrom has struggled to get ice time with the Vancouver Canucks. But with Eddie Lack‘s future looking more uncertain by the day, the Canucks need to start making solid decisions about who will represent the team in front of net.
