The Vancouver Canucks announced a two-year extension for 23-year-old forward Markus Granlund on Tuesday. Granlund was set to hit restricted free agency this offseason. The forward had two goals and three points in the 16 games he played this season as a Canuck. He also recorded eight blocks and ten hits in that span, ending the season as a minus-three player.
This is a predictable signing considering the price that the Canucks management had to pay to obtain Granlund from the Calgary Flames. On that note, former-Canuck Hunter Shinkaruk had two goals and one assist in the seven NHL games he played for his hometown Flames this season.
