It was the battle between two Vancouver Canucks forwards — one former, one current — from Örnsköldsvik, Sweden. A battle that had to come to an end this season and did come to an end Thursday night in Boston, Massachusetts.
Markus Näslund, Canuck from 1996 to 2008 and Daniel Sedin, active Canuck since 2000, were tied at 346 goals for the club heading into the game. Daniel scored the 78th game-winning goal of his career, which was also goal No. 347, which let him move past Näslund. Just in case the stat guys made a mistake counting the goals, Sedin added another one as an insurance.
