When the Vancouver Canucks traded for Philip Larsen, a Danish defenseman playing in Russia whose rights were held by the Edmonton Oilers, not everyone understood what was going on. “He wasn’t good enough for the Oilers, so how is he supposed to help us?” was one of the arguments. The Canucks quickly answered that question: Larsen is the new power-play quarterback.
(Plus, he didn’t leave North America because he wasn’t good enough but rather because he didn’t like it in Edmonton. But that’s a story for another time.)
After four games, however, Larsen was one of just four Canucks who hadn’t recorded a single point.
