Vancouver Canucks: Craig Button has major praise for Jonathan Dahlen

The many doubters of Vancouver Canucks general manager Jim Benning seem to forget the bold move he made at the 2017 trade deadline, shipping out fan favourite Alexandre Burrows to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for prospect Jonathan Dahlen.

Burrows hasn’t contributed a whole lot in the nation’s capital. He has just 25 points through 91 games, and went unclaimed on waivers earlier this season. As for Dahlen – the 66th-ranked NHL prospect by The Hockey News – he looks to be a major piece of Vancouver’s future, alongside fellow Swede Elias Pettersson.

The 20-year-old Dahlen scored 23 goals and 44 points for Timra IK in 2017-18, and added one goal and an assist in a pair of games for the AHL Utica Comets this season.
