Eventually, Vancouver Canucks general manager Jim Benning is going to have to re-sign forward Brock Boeser, who’s coming off a Calder Trophy nomination, after scoring 29 goals and 55 points in 62 games.
Boeser enters the final year of his entry-level contract, and he’s slated for RFA status next offseason. There’s no reason to believe a deal won’t get done at some point, and Boeser’s agent, Ben Hankinson, isn’t worried about coming to an agreement.
But for the Canucks, it makes plenty of sense to sign Boeser to a bridge contract, and it would be beneficial for both sides.
