Vancouver Canucks: Analyzing a potential Alexander Edler extension

The Vancouver Canucks will have to make plenty of decisions regarding their blueliners in the coming calendar year, and that includes Alexander Edler, who is entering the final year of his contract.

Edler, 32, signed a six-year extension worth $30 million in Jan. 2013. Per CapFriendly.com, he’ll make $5 million in 2018-19, and carries a no-trade clause. We know he doesn’t want to leave Vancouver, nor does general manager Jim Benning seem keen on moving Edler.

So it shouldn’t surprise anybody if the two sides begin to talk about an extension sometime during next season.
