A 3-3 tie against Team North America was all Team Sweden needed to clinch a spot in the semifinals of the 2016 World Cup of Hockey. A goal by Colorado Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon won the game for North America. But that didn’t matter for the Swedes, who still won Group B as the only team with five points.
Henrik Sedin, Daniel Sedin, Loui Eriksson and co. went off to a rocky start, falling behind 2-0 after just a minute and 35 seconds. They were also behind 3-1, before Nicklas Backstrom managed to make it 3-2 in a turbulent first period.
