Vancouver Canucks general manager Jim Benning focused entirely on adding more wingers during the second day of the 2019 NHL draft, and it started with a pair of marquee moves.
In the second round, Benning drafted Swedish forward Nils Hoglander. He then made a blockbuster trade for Tampa Bay Lightning forward J.T. Miller, surrendering two draft picks and goalie Marek Mazanec in return.
The Canucks also swung a deal with the San Jose Sharks, acquiring forward Francis Perron and a seventh rounder in this year’s draft for Tom Pyatt and Vancouver’s 2019 sixth rounder.
