The Vancouver Canucks announced Monday that they traded for Toronto Maple Leafs forward Josh Leivo, with Michael Carcone being dealt in return.
Toronto needed to clear a roster spot with William Nylander set to rejoin the team after signing a six-year contract, ending a lengthy dispute. The Canucks had already waived Brendan Leipsic, so a spot was already opened up for Leivo.
The 25-year-old Leivo was drafted 86th overall by the Maple Leafs in 2011. Leivo has spent the bulk of his career with the Toronto Marlies of the AHL.
