A day after the Vancouver Canucks hung out 19-year-old netminder Michael DiPietro out to try, general manager has found a temporary backup solution.
On Monday, the Canucks acquired goalie Marek Mazanec from the New York Rangers in exchange for a seventh round pick, according to Sportsnet’s John Shannon.

The 27-year-old Czech hasn’t played an NHL game this season. He’s appeared in 20 contests for the Rangers’ affiliate, the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack.
