NEWARK, N.J. — New Jersey Devils winger Jordin Tootoo wants the NHL to investigate what he described as personal slurs directed at him and his family by Vancouver Canucks forward Alex Burrows during Sunday night’s game.
Tootoo said the remarks were made while the two players were in the penalty box during the second period of New Jersey’s 4-3 overtime win over Vancouver.
Tootoo challenged Burrows to fight after they left the penalty box.
“If you’re going to talk the talk, you’ve got to walk the walk,” Tootoo told New Jersey reporters after the game. “To make the remarks he did about my personal life and family is classless and unacceptable in this day and age.
