Sharks take a bite out of young Canucks’ lineup in 2-1 win

SAN JOSE — Jared McCann scored again Tuesday but it wasn’t enough for the Vancouver Canucks, who lost 2-1 to the San Jose Sharks in a pre-season game that actually possessed National Hockey League intensity. Maybe it will be enough for McCann.

The 19-year-old first-round draft pick is trying to earn one of the few jobs available on the Canucks. He scored for the second straight game and is tied for Vancouver’s pre-season scoring lead with four points.

He took Matt Nieto’s awful turnover and buried a shot top-corner to make it 1-1 at 18:34 of the first period.
