Our final round of report cards for the early portion of the NHL off-season features a focus on the Pacific Division — you know, the one won last season by an expansion team. The (Las) Vegas Golden Knights laid waste to all expectations of their initial season, winning 51 games — seven more than the next-best Pacific squad — and establishing a new bar of excellence for first-year franchises in all sports.
The 2017-18 campaign wasn’t kind to Canadian teams in the Pacific, as the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames both missed the post-season after strong showings in 2016-17.
