PENTICTON — The phone call came out of nowhere and Rodrigo Abols is happy he answered it.
Abols, a 19-year-old from Latvia, is explaining how he happened to end up playing at the Young Stars Classic for the Vancouver Canucks.
“In the middle of summer I got a call from British Columbia, it was unidentified number, and Jonathan Wall (the Canucks’ director of hockey operations and analytics) ) was like, ‘do you want to come and play for the Canucks in the Penticton tournament’ and I was like, ‘sure,’” Abols says. “That is how I got here.
