On his second shift back from injury, Vancouver Canucks defenceman Luca Sbisa nearly knocked Nikolaj Ehlers back to Denmark with a thunderous open-ice hit in Winnipeg. On his next shift, Sbisa willingly fought a monster, Jets’ enforcer Anthony Peluso, a six-minute player who weighs 235 pounds.
Sbisa never finished the game.
“I knew going into that fight that my odds were pretty slim,” Sbisa explained a few days later. “But I try to play the game honestly and figured it was better to get it out of the way. He hit me pretty hard. I lost my grip right away and twisted my fingers up pretty good … so he had a free pass at my head.
