There is so much bleak darkness around the Vancouver Canucks these days that it’s difficult to notice the sliver of sunshine like Chris Higgins.
The 32-year-old winger became irrefutable evidence of the National Hockey League team’s youth movement when he was waived on Jan. 13 and sent to the American Hockey League.
Higgins had been in Vancouver nearly five years. He is under contract another season but was pretty sure he was done with the Canucks. Then, Saturday, he was recalled from the Utica Comets due to Radim Vrbata’s season-ending knee injury.
And that’s not the brightest part of Higgins’ journey.
