RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Vancouver Canucks set back the Carolina Hurricanes and the hockey analytics movement, winning 3-2 here Friday in overtime while being statistically dominated everywhere but on the scoreboard.
With his second of the game, Bo Horvat provided the winning goal at 3:25 of overtime during a delayed penalty, and Jacob Markstrom provided winning goaltending with 38 saves on a night when Vancouver was outshot 40-21.
John-Michael Liles, that old Canuck killer from the Colorado Avalanche, tied it for the Hurricanes when his centring pass banked in off the skate of Vancouver defenceman Matt Bartkowski with 2:10 remaining in regulation.
