GM Benning pleased with Canucks’ early success, blend of youth, hustle, grit

Jim Benning was confident heading into training camp he had a good team on paper. The general manager of the Vancouver Canucks is pleased it looks pretty good on the ice, too.

Benning knows four games does not make a season, but is satisfied with the team’s 3-0-1 start that has Vancouver sitting atop the National Hockey League’s Western Conference standings.

“I think it’s good for the team’s confidence to go into Anaheim and go into L.A. and play hard, play for one another and be able to win those games,” Benning said Wednesday. “It is good to get some early momentum.
