VANCOUVER - A day after shipping out veteran Kevin Bieksa, the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday signed free agent defencemen Yannick Weber and Matt Bartkowski.
Both players signed one-year deals. Weber will make $1.5 million next season, while Bartkowski will earn $1.75 million.
Weber had a career-high 11 goals and 21 points in 65 games with the Canucks last season. Those 11 goals were the most by a Canuck defenceman last season.
The 26-year-old Swiss native was a restricted free agent, but became unrestricted Wednesday when the Canucks did not make him a qualifying offer before Monday’s deadline.
