The Vancouver Canucks announced Wednesday that they have signed and recalled Utica Comets centre Mike Zalewski.
The two-way deal will replace Zalewski's AHL-only contract, allowing the Canucks to call him up immediately. He'll join the team in Boston, giving the team another option at centre with Henrik Sedin and Brandon Sutter currently injured.
Canucks fans might remember Zalewski from his cup of coffee with the team in 2014. Less than a month after signing with the organization out of college (he spent two seasons with the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Engineers), Zalewski made his NHL debut on April 12, 2014 in Edmonton.
