With the 64th pick in the 2017 NHL Draft, the Vancouver Canucks selected OHL Windsor Spitfires goaltender Michael DiPietro.
The Canucks wanted a puck-moving defenceman who can quarterback a power play. But with Cale Makar gone at No. 5, it seems like that priority doesn’t matter anymore.
After selecting three straight forwards in the first two rounds, the Canucks went with a goaltender in the fourth round.
From LastWordOnSports.com:
DiPietro is slightly undersized compared to most of the goalies who have been drafted in recent years. He makes himself look bigger by coming out of the crease far and cutting down angles.
