Nobody claimed Sven Baertschi when the Vancouver Canucks placed him on waivers before the start of the season, but general manager Jim Benning is still looking to give the 27-year-old a fresh start.
On Saturday morning, Rick Dhaliwal of TSN 1040 reported that Vancouver is “working with” Baertschi’s agent as they attempt to “find him a new home.” The Swiss forward is signed through the 2020-21 season with a $3.36 million cap hit.
Baertschi has 22 points in 15 games for the AHL’s Utica Comets this season, but he’s only recorded two assists in six games with the Canucks.
