VANCOUVER — The Vancouver Canucks have acquired winger Emerson Etem from the New York Rangers in exchange for winger Nicklas Jensen and a sixth-round draft pick.
Etem, 23, was selected 29th overall in the 2010 draft by the Anaheim Ducks.
The Long Beach, Calif., native was a prolific scorer in junior. In three seasons with the Medicine Hat Tigers — one of them under Vancouver coach Willie Desjardins — he scored 143 goals and totalled 252 points.
But Etem hasn’t been able to bring that offence to the NHL. In 133 NHL games, Etem has 15 goals and 34 points.
