When the Vancouver Canucks won all those Northwest Division titles, they couldn’t do much right in the playoffs. When they decided to “rebuild on the fly”, they couldn’t rebuild on the fly the right way.
Now, after all of the scrutiny the Canucks have received from the media and its fans this year, they have a chance to do the right thing once and for all: Lose these next two games in regulation and they’ll finish 29th in the NHL.
The good news for Vancouver is that the Edmonton Oilers are fighting for both the Pacific Division title and home advantage in the first round, so they won’t be resting any starters on Saturday (and hopefully not Sunday).
