Given a chance to go all-in on the world junior tournament, the Vancouver Canucks bet Jake Virtanen to Team Canada on Sunday but appear to be holding on to Jared McCann.
The team loaned one of its two 19-year-old forwards, Abbotsford winger Virtanen, to the national under-20 team but Canuck general manager Jim Benning didn't sound like he was ready to throw McCann into the pot, too.
Unlike Virtanen, who just finished a two-game conditioning stint in the American League after suffering a hip injury on Nov. 30, McCann has remained a lineup regular with the Canucks.
