SAN ANTONIO — UTSA quarterback Dalton Sturm said Wednesday he welcomes heightened competition at the position and said he is eager to meet newcomer Jared Johnson.
“Of course,” Sturm said after practice. “I kind of say (it’s) like me and Blake (Bogenschutz). Me and Blake, we had the same competition and we were good friends.”
UTSA announced on Monday that Johnson, a transfer, would join the team this summer after graduating from Sam Houston State. He is expected to compete against Sturm for the starting job.
“I’m sure me and Jared will acquaint to each other and probably have a great relationship, just like all the rest of us do,” Sturm said.
