SAN ANTONIO — Oklahoma State defensive coordinator Glenn Spencer is emerging as a strong candidate to become the next football coach at UTSA, a source said Wednesday afternoon.
“He’s got a good shot,” the source said.
Spencer has worked at Oklahoma State since 2008. He has been the Cowboys’ defensive coordinator since 2013.
The source said Spencer interviewed with UTSA on Wednesday, on the eighth day of the search to replace Larry Coker.
Coker, who started the UTSA program from scratch, stepped down after almost seven years and five seasons on Jan. 5.
UTSA is aiming to make a hire by Friday.
