SAN ANTONIO — UTSA apparently is close to hiring Oklahoma State’s Glenn Spencer as its next head coach in football.
“He’s got a good shot,” one source said Wednesday afternoon.
Added another Wednesday night, “(I) hear it’s his job. That’s what I’m hearing tonight.”
A member of the Oklahoma State coaching staff since 2008, Spencer has been the Cowboys’ defensive coordinator since 2013.
He interviewed with UTSA on Wednesday, on the eighth day of the search to replace Larry Coker.
Coker, who started the UTSA program from scratch, stepped down after almost seven years and five seasons on Jan.
