SAN ANTONIO — UTSA on Friday afternoon named Frank Wilson, a veteran assistant in the Southeastern Conference, as its new head football coach.
Terms of the deal weren’t immediately available.
Wilson, who has 20 years of coaching experience, has helped lead teams to eight bowl games.
He is regarded as one of the nation’s top recruiters.
The 42-year-old New Orleans native worked for the past six seasons as an assistant for the LSU Tigers.
Five of the six recruiting classes under his watch ranked in the top ten in the nation.
Wilson recruited star running back Leonard Fournette to LSU as part of the second-rated class in the nation in 2014.
