SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA Roadrunners defeated the nationally-ranked Houston Cougars 3-2 Tuesday night in college baseball.
At Houston, catcher Mason George produced two RBIs for the Roadrunners, who opened a 3-1 lead through their first four at bats.
After that, the UTSA bullpen took over.
Houston, ranked 18th in one national poll and 21st in two others, scored a run in the fifth but couldn’t complete the comeback in its home park.
Coming on in relief of starter Karl Craigie, Andre Shewcraft pitched 2 and 1/3 innings for the victory and Patrick Herbelin blanked UH in the seventh, eighth and ninth for the save.
