HOUSTON — The No. 26-ranked UTSA men's golf team is in fifth place after the opening day of the Bayou City Collegiate Classic, which got underway Monday at Westwood Golf Club (par 72/7,184 yards).
The Roadrunners opened the 36-hole day with an 8-under-par 280 before posting a 294 in the afternoon, and they sit at 2-under 574, three shots ahead of No. 42 Arkansas State and seven strokes in front of host Rice (+5).
Individually, Hunter Bott is in a tie for 17th at 1-under 143. The sophomore from Montgomery started his week by matching his UTSA career-low round with a 3-under 69 that featured six birdies, four as part of a 2-under 34 on the front side.
