EL PASO — Jade Smith extended her hitting streak to 13 games, but UTEP swept Saturday’s Conference USA doubleheader against visiting UTSA by scores of 5-3 and 9-2 at Helen of Troy Field.
Tess Soefje and Kaley Pyles each posted season highs with three hits in the opener for the Roadrunners (12-22, 6-5 C-USA) and the duo combined for eight hits on the day. Smith entered the afternoon with an 11-game streak and recorded a hit in each contest.
In the opener, UTSA jumped ahead with a pair of runs in the top of the second inning.
