UTEP downs UTSA on Saturday in regular-season finale, 81-74

EL PASO — Ryan Bowie registered his 17th game of at least 20 points with 22, but UTEP went on two big second-half runs and held off UTSA for an 81-74 victory on Saturday afternoon in the regular-season finale for both squads.

Bowie scored 16 of his 22 points in the second half to pace the Roadrunners (5-26, 3-15 C-USA), who will open the 2016 Conference USA Tournament against 12th-seeded Florida Atlantic (7-24, 5-13 C-USA) at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8, in Birmingham, Ala.

Nick Billingsley came off the bench to score a season-high 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting in just 17 minutes, while Phillip Jones added his second double-double of the campaign with 14 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
