HATTIESBURG, Miss. — UTSA led by one run heading into the bottom of the ninth but Southern Miss’ Tim Lynch laced a one-out single down the right field line to score two runs and give the Golden Eagles a 6-5 victory Thursday night at Pete Taylor Park.
Despite the loss, UTSA outhit Southern Miss 10-8 and snapped the Golden Eagles’ five-game double-digit hit run.
Karan Patel, who faced the final four batters of the inning, was charged with the loss as he gave up the go-ahead run.
