SAN ANTONIO — Oklahoma basketball coach Lon Kruger predicted Friday that his long-time assistant, Steve Henson, will do well in his new job as head coach at UTSA.
“He’ll do a fantastic job,” Kruger said in a UTSA news release. “His relationship with the players is second to none.”
Two of Kruger’s assistants landed jobs in South Texas.
Henson will take over at UTSA, while Lew Hill will lead the program at UT-Rio Grande Valley.
In a move that underscores Kruger’s allegiance to his assistants, he allowed both Henson and Hill to be announced at their respective schools on the day before OU’s biggest game in years.
