WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — No. 70 William & Mary blanked the UTSA men’s tennis team by a 4-0 count on Saturday morning at the Millie West Tennis Facility.
The two teams battled to the wire for the doubles point to start the day.
The Tribe’s top duo of Scott Huang and Ryan Newman teamed up for a 6-1 win against Fabian Brand and Diogo Casa at No. 1. However, the Roadrunners evened things when Eric Buchalter and Takeru Watanabe combined for a 6-0 shutout of Addison Appleby and Christian Cargill at the second spot.
That sent all eyes to the third court, where Lars de Boer and Damon Niquet outlasted Christian Carrillo and Joao Riquelme in a 7-6 (7-4) decision to clinch the 1-0 lead for the Tribe (11-3).
