LUBBOCK — No. 70 Utah State scored its second 4-0 victory against UTSA this season in a neutral-site contest on Sunday at McLeod Tennis Center on the campus of Texas Tech.
The Aggies (8-4), who also downed the Roadrunners (1-6) by the same score last month at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend Norman (Okla.) Regional, took a 1-0 lead after grabbing the doubles point.
The duo of Christian Carrillo and Jake Rother gave the Roadrunners an early advantage in doubles with a 6-2 triumph at No. 3.
However, Utah State claimed a 6-3 win on the second court and then the Aggies’ tandem of Luis Lopez and Romai Ugarte clinched the point with a narrow 7-6 (7-2) decision against Fabian Brand and Diogo Casa at the top spot.
