LUBBOCK — UTSA won the doubles point, but it was not enough in a 4-1 setback at No. 10 Texas Tech on Saturday at McLeod Tennis Center.
The Roadrunners (1-5) won a pair of doubles contests to take a 1-0 lead against the national-ranked Red Raiders (13-1).
Christian Carrillo and Jake Rother dropped a 6-2 decision at No. 3, but Eric Buchalter and Joao Riquelme teamed up for a 7-5 triumph against Hugo Dojas and Evan Nix on the second court, sending the doubles point to the No. 1 matchup. There, Fabian Brand and Diogo Casa outlasted Alex Sendegeya and Bjorn Thomson, 7-6 (9-7), to clinch the early advantage for the visitors.
